One of a kind art deco pendant crafted in 18k yellow gold. This rare piece of jewelry was master crafted by the famous Parisian atelier Sasportas. The pendant is crafted in the form of a buddha resting peacefully atop a large cabochon cut amber gemstone. Details are endless on this piece as swirling patterns of enamel decorate the head, body and pedestal of the piece. Vibrant shades of blue, green and red contrast beautifully against the yellow gold details.

This art deco pendant is highlighted with one baltic amber gemstone in a cabochon cut, this gemstone is fastened into the gold, and shows a beautiful orange, yellow coloration. Amber for centuries has has been used for pain relief, inflammation relief, and the soothing of various types of discomfort. The resting buddha atop the amber gemstone ties this spiritual design together making it much more than just a piece of jewelry. The amber gemstone measures approximately 35 x 20 mm and truly brings this design together.
This french art deco pendant is true to the time as filigree details are seen throughout the piece, even on the bale. The arch detail above the buddah's head is crafted in platinum. The pendant is hallmarked with french export marks, as well a "SAS" makers marks with the inscription "France C2370".

The pendant weighs 33.7 grams and measures approximately 2.75" in length and 1.25" in width. The piece is in great pre owned condition. Some sections of the enamel show wear in small areas, which do not affect the integrity of the pendant. The French Maison Sasportas has won the gold medal in the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925 and is known for producing very fine jewels with geometric and retro elements and combining, with different rare and unusual gemstones. All the pieces they produced are one-of-a-kind. It was also used as a workshop by other French jewelry houses such as Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels.
